History of Pleasant View Grooming & Pet Vacations

Hi there, my name is Jeanette Leask and I would like to take the time to tell how I got started in the pet industry and why Pleasant View Grooming and Pet Vacations means so much to myself and my husband Lionel.

As a young girl I always knew I wanted to work with animals. Whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always said a vet, but deep down I knew I could never have to euthanize an animal. When I was 16yrs old I ended up working in the grocery store field and stayed in that area for 13yrs. I always knew there was something missing in my life and that I wasn't happy in my present career.

It wasn't until I met my husband (Lionel) and talked with him about a career change. He could see my passion and love for animals. So with his help and encouragement we decided it was time for me to make a career change. I then enrolled in a pet grooming course while Lionel got started on the construction of our boarding and grooming facility. In July of 2002 we opened the doors to Pleasant View Grooming and Pet Vacations and have never looked back since.

I could never explain in words the joy I get out of seeing those little faces everyday filled with such joy and happiness. How could you not love that? In May of 2003 we had the honour of being nominated and won the BBEX award for customer service. What an acknowledgement that was. I always tell my customers that I treat their pets as they were my own and all my pets get treated like royalty.

We have since expanded, adding a second building with bigger runs and a retail line which included pet food, toys and other pet related items. We approached the retail line like we approached the boarding and grooming, and it was not to bring anything in that we would feed or buy for our own pets. We only carry quality items and try to support our country with Canadian made products as much as possible.
